Apart from Kylie’s famous duet with Jason Donovan, which was released in Australia in 1988, there have been quite a few other duets and collaborations in Kylie’s career.
- Kylie Minogue first performed ‘The Locomotion’ with the Neighbours cast at a charity concert. Kylie took lead vocals and the rest of the cast were backing vocalists.
- In 1989 Kylie went down in musical history when she featured on Band Aid 2’s version of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’.
- After gaining experience within the PWL ‘hit factory’ Kylie became interested in song writing and since then has co-written songs with the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Scissor Sisters, Brothers In Rhythm, and M-People.
- One of Kylie’s lesser known duets was a song called G.B.I, recorded with Japanese artist Towa Tei, which became a cult underground dance track.
- In 1995 Kylie released her most controversial duet, a so-called ‘Murder Ballad’ with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds called ‘Where The Wild Roses Grow’. The story behind the song involves a man bashing a woman over the head with a rock, and then singing to her corpse. Nick Cave was already known as Australia’s ‘Prince of Darkness’, but this was perhaps a surprising success for Kylie.
- In 1999 Kylie recorded a duet with notable Australian singer/songwriter Ben Lee. Their recording of ‘The Reflex’ appeared on a Duran Duran tribute album.
- Male and Female pop royalty join together on the song ‘Kids’, which debuted at number 2 on the U.K. charts for Kylie and Robbie Williams.
- Kylie has also worked with another male pin-up when she took to the stage for a raunchy Performance with Justin Timberlake at the Brit Awards, an event she is rumoured to be hosting this year. Kylie is a firm favourite at the annual ceremony, having been nominated seven times, and crowned Best International Female in 2008.
