NEXT month Kylie will become the latest mainstream celebrity to host ITV's flagship entertainment show An Audience With. She's currently enjoying a star status she can't have encountered since her late-1980s heyday, with a number one single, an Elle magazine cover and heart-warming rumours that, at the age of 33, she is to retire from music to make babies. But first there's a new album, Fever, which reflects an increased confidence in both her identity and her ability as a performer. Her disco roots still resonate in every track: In Your Eyes starts with a synth and a four-to-the-floor beat that wouldn't have been out of place pulsing through the bass bins in Studio 54. Influences include Chic, The Human League and even Hazel O'Connor, and there are plenty of big dancefloor-filling breakdowns.
