Want to go where Jude Law buys Japanese labels, eat next to Liberty Ross, or drink in the latest bars or clubs? Then follow our guide to the hottest spots in town, compiled by EMILY SHEFFIELD 1. LMNT: It's Hackney's answer to Las Vegas: 10ft-tall sphinxes guard the fireplaces while Karma Sutra murals adorn unisex loos. The most desirable seat has to be in the giant Amphora. The food is French and inexpensive.

316 Queensbridge Road, E8 (020 7249 6727).

2. Matches: A mecca for west London's label addicts, the buyers at Matches boutique pick the very best pieces from the catwalk. Look out for Stella McCartney's must-have horse print dress for Chloe.

22-24 Ledbury Road, W11 (020 7221 0255).

3. Apple G4 Cube: The G4 may look like a particularly weird art student's final year project, but it does its stuff at warp speed. All those who bought into the giant boiled sweet look of the iMac last year are now wishing they'd waited for the Cube.

4. Bush Bar and Grill: Airy west London gastrodome, notable for simple French provincial food and celeb-spotting. Catch Dawn French and Lenny Henry sharing a cocktail or gawp at the likes of Liberty Ross and Jacquetta Wheeler. 45a Goldhawk Road, W12 (020 8746 2111).

5. Victoria Park, E9: This is where Alexander McQueen moved when he grew tired of Hoxton. Other locals include Graham Norton, who drinks at the Royal Inn on the Park.

6. Tuscan Steak: You have to take your hip status pretty seriously to pay 65 for a steak.

But then Tuscan Steak is in St Martins Lane hotel. If your budget doesn't stretch to the food then just stretch out on the bar as Patrick Cox did on its opening night. St Martins Lane Hotel, 45 St Martins Lane, WC2 (020 7300 5544).

7. Lighten Up: The house cocktail at the achingly trendy Light Bar - champagne, vodka, and mashed limes. St Martins Lane hotel, WC2.

8. Opium: New, swish French-Vietnamese restaurant and bar from Eric Yu, designed by Miguel Cancio Martin, the genius behind the Buddha Bar in Paris.

Models 1 held a party there recently. On Saturday nights DJ Albert flies in from the French capital. 1a Dean Street, W1 (020 7287 9608).

9. Release the Groove: The place to go to buy your soulful US house and jazzy beats, along with UK underground.

20 Denman Street, WC1 (020 7734 7712).

10. Customatix: Californian website www.customatix.com ups the ante in trainer-envy, allowing you to design your own sporting footwear. Choose the style, colour, material, graphics and logos, and they'll build them for you.

13. Ericsson HPM-10 MP3: Thanks to the amusing Ericsson HPM-10 MP3 player you can now phone and listen to music in the street at the same time. Made, astonishingly enough, in Russia, this gizmo converts Ericsson phones such as the ubiquitous T28 into music centres. If anyone rings, the sounds go on hold.

14. Eyre Bros: David and Richard Eyre opened London's first gastro- pub, the Eagle in Farringdon Road, and continue their mission to feed at this Shoho (Shoreditch) sandwich bar: the buzz about their salt- beef doorstep sandwiches has already landed them in Vogue.

Next up in the Eyre gastro-empire is a cookbook, Big Flavours and Rough Edges, out March 22 (15.99). 35 Charlotte Road, EC2 (020 7739 5345).

15. Farmacia: Get ahead and get holistic at this one-stop shop for all things healing and therapeutic. Madonna and Stella McCartney are fans of their Dr Hauschka detoxifying facial (55 for 90 minutes). And drink Gan Bei tonics (21), the herbal elixirs that Gwyneth Paltrow swears by. 169 Drury Lane, WC2 (020 7404 8808).

16. Harrington Club: It's run by the lovely Ronnie and Jo Wood and has organic food, pints of Guinness, luxurious spa treatments and celebs galore.

73 Redchurch Street E2 (020 7739 2081) .

19. Natural Nylon Theatre Company: Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, Sadie Frost and other members of the Natural Nylon film company are set to revamp London's stages. They are teaming up with the Ambassador Theatre Group on a series of productions showcasing the best British writing, directing and acting talent (including themselves, of course). No dates as yet, but planned ventures include Dr Faustus directed by David Lan.

20 The New Inn: As Shoreditch and Hoxton became over-hyped and overcrowded, the cutting edge East End crowd abandoned their old haunts. Now you'll find them at the New Inn, New Inn Yard, EC2, a cosy backstreet bar; playing pool at the Griffin, 93 Leonard Street, EC2, or at Public Life, once a humble men's toilet, at 82A Commercial Street.

21. Orange Video Phone: If it's the hip-on-the-cusp-of-techno- nerdish look that you're after, 2001's most complicated gadget combines a mobile video phone, palmtop computer and MP3 music player in a package smaller than a house brick.

22. Patrn tequila: Fans of this superior Mexican firewater include Kylie Minogue (the Great Eastern Dining Rooms in Shoreditch started selling it at her request) and the Fun Lovin' Criminals (who refuse to drink anything else). Naturally, it' s hard to find; try Che, the Sanderson or the Lanesborough.

Or buy from Harvey Nichols and Tipple, SE1 (020 7928 1007) which offers a delivery service.

23. Pellicci's cafe: With its Formica tables, Fifties fittings and traditional grub, Pellicci's is full of retro charm. Go on a Saturday morning and you'll find arty, post-party twentysomethings and locals Steven Berkoff, Gilbert and George. 332 Bethnal Green Road, E2 (020 7739 4873).
